Cloud POS System in Saudi Arabia: A Café and Restaurant Checklist
A seven-point checklist for choosing a cloud POS for a Saudi café or restaurant, with SAR pricing and the digital pager that replaces lost buzzers.

Cloud POS systems in Saudi Arabia: what to check before you buy
Before choosing a cloud POS for a café or restaurant, check seven operational points: simplified tax invoices, offline mode, the kitchen screen, shifts and the cash drawer, payment methods, WhatsApp orders, and importing products from your current system. Then add an eighth that most buyers never price in: how you call customers when their order is ready.
The market is large enough to justify the scrutiny. According to point-of-sale data reported by Mubasher on 4 May 2026, PoS sales in Saudi Arabia reached SAR 189.7 billion in the first quarter of 2026, and food and beverage was the largest sector at SAR 29.9 billion.
Pricing: what you pay per month and per year
Cloud POS systems are usually sold as a monthly or yearly subscription rather than a one-off licence. Compare what each plan includes and what extras cost. The table below shows Watily's Cashier Pro plans as published on the product page. Prices exclude VAT.
| Plan | Monthly price | Branches | Registers | Users | Extra register, same branch | Extra branch |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cashier Pro | SAR 149 | 2 | 2 | 3 | SAR 39/month | SAR 49/month |
| Growth | SAR 249 | 5 | 5 | 6 | SAR 29/month | SAR 39/month |
| Pro | SAR 549 | 10 | 10 | 11 | SAR 19/month | SAR 29/month |
The yearly Cashier Pro plan costs SAR 1,788 and includes a tablet, stand and receipt printer free, once per establishment. Growth and Pro offer 5% off for three months, 10% for six months and 20% for a year, with a two-day free trial. Kitchen screens, order-display screens, pagers and drivers are free and do not count against device limits.
A worked example: a single-branch café in Jeddah with two registers and three staff fits entirely inside Cashier Pro. Add a third register for a busy season and the cost rises to SAR 188 a month before VAT. Note that the minimum user count equals the number of registers plus one manager.
A seven-point checklist before you choose
- Invoices and receipts: does the system issue simplified tax invoices with a QR code on the receipt, credit notes for returns, and receipts by WhatsApp instead of paper?
- Offline mode: ask exactly what works when the connection drops. Some systems save quick sales locally and sync later, but need the internet for table orders, returns, voids and loyalty.
- Kitchen display and station printing: are orders colour-coded by prep time, can cooks mark items ready, and do drinks tickets print at the bar while food tickets print in the kitchen?
- Shifts and cash drawer: look for an opening float, cash counting by denomination, X and Z reports, end-of-day closing, and reports by branch, cashier, product and payment method with CSV export.
- Payments: cash with change calculation, card with approval code, bank transfer, deferred payment, WhatsApp payment links and split bills.
- WhatsApp orders: does an order sent on WhatsApp land on the till at menu prices, or does a staff member retype it?
- Data import and hardware: can you import products from your current system by CSV or Excel, and does it run on an iPad or Windows device with 58 mm or 80 mm printers, a barcode scanner, a scale and a cash drawer?
Treat any point the vendor will not confirm in writing as missing. If your business depends on pre-orders and delivery, also read about a branded app for your restaurant in Saudi Arabia to judge when an app pays for itself.
The digital pager: replacing buzzers that get lost
Physical buzzers need charging and sometimes leave with the customer. The alternative restaurant-technology vendors now promote is paging through the customer's own phone, using a QR code or a digital waitlist. That is a vendor observation; there are no independent figures yet on how many Saudi restaurants have switched.
Watily's digital pager works like this:
- You print the branch QR code from the cashier settings and place it on the counter. The label prints in Arabic and English.
- The customer scans it, enters the order number, and sees how many orders are ahead and which number is being served. No app, name or phone number is needed.
- When the kitchen marks the order ready, the phone rings and vibrates, even when locked. If the browser cannot alert, the page stays open and updates itself.
- After pickup the customer rates the order. Ratings of 4 or 5 stars are invited to review on Google Maps; 3 stars or fewer go privately to the business.
A pager report shows usage, average wait, rush hours and ratings per branch. If a Riyadh branch's average wait after evening prayer is clearly longer than the rest of the day, that branch needs another register or prep hand in those hours. The pager is included with the cashier at no extra cost for restaurants and cafés, so buying and replacing physical buzzers drops out of the budget.
When this setup is not the right fit
These limits are stated on the product page:
- If your connection is unreliable and you rely on table service, offline mode covers quick sales only, not table orders, returns, voids or loyalty.
- The free tablet, stand and printer come only with the yearly Cashier Pro plan, once per establishment.
- The customer mobile app is Pro-only and listed on Google Play.
- Extra branches and registers are paid add-ons on every plan.
- WhatsApp AI ordering needs an official WhatsApp API number or a QR-linked number, and AI usage is billed like the standard auto-reply.
How Watily Solves This
Watily Cashier Pro, the cloud POS for restaurants and cafés, covers all seven points in one subscription: selling from an iPad or computer with barcode, camera or scanner search; sizes, add-ons and weighed items; hold and resume; and takeaway, dine-in, pickup, delivery and drive-thru orders.
On WhatsApp, an AI assistant takes the order, shows POS menu prices, collects the address and order type, sends a payment link and alerts the cashier with a sound. It needs the cashier plus the WhatsApp AI auto-reply, included in all three plans; see our guide to the WhatsApp AI chatbot for Saudi SMEs. Delivery dispatch and drivers are included free.
Setup takes three steps:
- Add products manually, import them from Foodics by CSV or Excel, or pull them from your Watily online store.
- Choose the business type, configure printers, the kitchen screen, the pager QR code (under screens and links in POS settings) and staff PINs.
- Open a shift with the opening float and start selling.
If you are building your online presence from scratch, our guide on how to open an online store in Saudi Arabia in 2026 explains how a store complements in-branch sales. You can create a Watily account and trial the system on one device before moving the whole branch.
The rule that holds for any coming rush season, Ramadan or school holidays: measure average wait two weeks before, add the extra register only for the months you need it, then check the ratings report afterwards to see where orders slowed down.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a cloud POS cost for a café in Saudi Arabia?
Watily's Cashier Pro plan starts at SAR 149 a month before VAT and includes two branches, two registers and three users. The yearly plan at SAR 1,788 includes a free tablet, stand and receipt printer once per establishment.
Does a cloud POS work without internet?
In Cashier Pro, quick sales are saved locally and synced when the connection returns. Table orders, returns, voids and loyalty points require an internet connection.
What is a digital pager for restaurants?
A digital pager replaces the vibrating buzzer with the customer's phone: they scan a QR code on the counter, enter their order number, see their place in the queue, and the phone rings and vibrates when the order is ready. No app, name or phone number is required.
Can I move my products from Foodics to another POS?
Yes. Watily Cashier Pro imports products from Foodics via CSV or Excel, alongside manual entry or import from a Watily online store. After importing, you configure printers and the kitchen screen and open the first shift.
